 My Academic Background:

I am always passionate and hunger for knowledge and truth.

Born in 1983, I spent my childhood in XiaAA University, where is famous for the high level of academics and beautiful crossing ocean campus. The strong academic atmosphere endowed me the pure enthusiasm for knowledge. I have been interested in asking thousands of “why” and debating until I am satisfied with my level of understanding since I was a little girl.

In the summer of 2001, I sat the National University Entrance Examination .With high scores; I was admitted by the Accounting Department of XiAAen University which is the top accounting department in China with really high reputation. Though my major is accounting, I have strong interests in Finance too. Moreover, the Finance Department in Economics School of AAAen University is also ranking in the top class in China’s academic filed. With the great passion in accounting and finance, I am not only devoted in my major, I also sacrificed all my weekends, holidays and most of summer/winter vacations for over two and a half years for pursuing of dual degree in Bachelor’s of Economics. My family background partly influent my aspiration to work in the field of finance as my father is the President of the People’s Bank of China Fuzhou Branch and my mother works for the Supervisory Committee of China’s Banking Industry. My family always expects me to contribute my enthusiasm and knowledge to the global financial industry.

I have been systematically trained in accounting and finance by outstanding scholars in China. Starting from Principle of Accounting which I got the score of 98 out of 100, I have covered subjects including the Intermediate Financial Accounting; Management and Cost Accounting; Advanced Financial Accounting; Auditing and Assurance; Taxation; Business Law; Finance; Finance Market; International Trade; Investment and Statistics. My scores of the major courses are outstanding and most of them are above 80%. Due to my hard-working and good scores of my courses, I have achieved the First-Class and the Second-Class Scholarships of Xiamen University in the school years of 2005 and 2006 and The Outstanding Scholarship in 2007. In September 2006, I became one of the student representatives of my department to exchange to the School of Accounting and Finance, Hong Kong Polytechnic University for one semester. In June, 2007, I finally completed the entire courses system for my dual degree—the Bachelor’s Degree of Economics and my dual degree dissertation was on the topic of “The Foreign Exchange Risks and the Management in Transnational Corporations”. Begin with the planning in the summer 2006, until I passed the dissertation (thesis) oral defense in May 2007, I spent nearly 1 year keeping doing researches on my finance dissertation and revising it for over 7 or 8 times until I was satisfied with the final version. This dissertation with the name of “The Foreign Exchange Risks and the Management in Transnational Corporations was published in Fujian Finance in April, 2007. In July, 2007, the national core economics magazine- Development Research published another paper of mine on the topic of “The Constraints of the Financing in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

My Extracurricular Activities, Soft Skills and leadership

Not only do I focus on my study, I have experiences in student activities and social works as well. I have experiences of student leaders for over 15 years. As the class representative, I was responsible for the communication with teachers in school and with the parents in the parents’ meetings and the school open days. As the Vice-Head person in Secretary Department in the school Student Union, I was in charge of all the financial operations of the whole student union and the campus book store, also the communication works within the organization. As the Vice-President of the Student Career Association in management school, I am dedicated in building a platform for both job-hunting of our students and the career recruitment of enterprises. In the school year of 2005 and 2006, I was honored with the title of “excellent student leader”. In the summer of 2007, I join in the “Summer Leadership Program” in Ernst&Young which is one of the “Big 4” accounting service agencies and fortunately won the award of direct job offer from Ernst&Young.

Furthermore, I am fond of all kinds of activities which make my collage life full and colorful. I played different roles in English dramas, including the queen in the “dream of the mid-summer night” and the step mother in “Cinderella”. I joined many English speech contests and awarded the title of “the star of hope”.

I am proud of my strong confidence; skills of communication and leadership. I learned quickly and have gifted talent especially in language and efficient communication. Unlike most of the Chinese students, I learned English from speaking instead of the grammar when I was in kindergarten. I took part in the International Student Camp twice in Fuzhou city and achieved the Second Place Award of “excellent English speaker”. During the first semester of year 3 in my collage life, I exchanged Hong Kong Polytechnic University and studied with local Hong Kong students and over 200 exchange students from all over the world for over half a year. There I found myself had great adaptability and enjoyed team works with my global friends who come from different nations, with different culture backgrounds, customs, religious and life styles. The feelings to be a global citizen impressed me a lot. Furthermore, in the half of a year, I have learned simple daily sentences of Korean, French and Cantonese.

University of XXX

My reasons to pursue the graduate program of Ms in Finance is mainly out of my great interest in the subject, which spurs me to gain more extensive and deeper knowledge at the very frontier of this academic filed. This program may be the most appropriate one for me: (1) the management school in Buffalo University is one of the top management schools in the U.S. The program of Ms in Finance has long tradition of excellence in both the research and education in the filed of finance and receiving graduate education in it is great for my career dream. (2) The colorful student’s extracurricular life in the beautiful campus and the location provide me with feeling that I will enjoy my post-graduate study so much. (3) I learned more information from the admission officers in an education fair in HK last year. They highly commended the relaxed and friendly student-faculty relations and the exciting and innovative academic atmosphere, and passionately encouraged me to pursue the graduate program in Ms in Finance.

I am interested in the program of Ms in Finance. As an ambitious young lady with motivation, self-confidence, and intelligence, I believe I can be the right student you are looking for and will bring great diversity to your beautiful campus. Also, the program will provide me with great opportunity to grow into an accounting and finance professional if I am fortunate enough to obtain the great honor of joining the group, learning form prestigious professors and active young scholars. I sincerely look forward to that.
